What this policy covers

MacroMuse is a nutrition tracking and cooking assistant created and maintained by Vishesh Singh. This policy covers the website, installed web app, and the MacroMuse Android app when it uses the same services.

We use the information you provide to run your account, estimate nutrition, store your logs, suggest recipes, manage Free and Pro access, and deliver optional reminders. We do not sell or rent your personal data or use advertising trackers.

2

Information you provide

Account and profile

Firebase account ID, email, display name, and Google sign-in profile information when you use Google. Profile details include age, gender, height, weight, activity level, goal preference, calorie and macro targets, and your selected avatar. Password sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication.

Meals, progress, and recipes

Meal descriptions, portion details, timestamps, estimated calories and macros, hydration counts, and other progress entries you choose to record. Saved recipes include their ingredients, method, nutrition estimates, and saved date.

AI requests and photos

Photos you select or capture for meal analysis, food descriptions, cooking questions, ingredients, and recent messages included with AI Chef requests. Only select images and information you want processed.

Access, reminders, and feedback

Your Free or Pro status, activation and cancellation records, daily usage and request-limit records. Optional reminders use your device push subscription. Feedback includes the rating, name, email, and review you submit.

Meal scans and AI Chef

Meal photos and descriptions are sent through our server to Groq for AI processing. MacroMuse saves the resulting meal details when you log the meal; it does not save the uploaded photo in your cloud meal history.

AI Chef sends your current question and a limited recent conversation history to Groq. Your full profile and meal diary are not automatically included in Chef requests. MacroMuse caches up to 60 recent chat messages in this browser or installed app so the conversation can return when you reopen AI Chef. This local cache is tied to your signed-in account and is not a cloud chat backup. Clearing the chat, signing out, or clearing local app data removes it. Recipes you choose to save are stored separately.

Clearing a chat resets the conversation on your device. It does not erase requests already processed by a provider. Groq’s own policies govern its processing and retention of submitted content. Avoid putting sensitive personal information in prompts or unrelated details in photos.

4

Service providers and external resources

  • Google Firebase: account authentication and Cloud Firestore storage for profiles, meals, progress, saved recipes, preferences, access status, and operational records.
  • Groq: AI processing of meal images, descriptions, and Chef conversations.
  • Vercel: website hosting and server functions. Hosting providers receive connection information such as IP address, request time, and browser details and may keep operational or security logs.
  • Browser push services: delivery of reminders when you enable notifications. The service depends on your browser or device.
  • Google Forms: receives your rating, name, email, and review only when you submit feedback. Your nutrition profile and diary are not automatically attached.
  • Google Fonts and external links: loading fonts sends a request to Google. Following a portfolio, social, source, or other external link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own. See Firebase privacy information, Groq’s privacy policy, Vercel’s privacy policy, and Google’s privacy policy for their practices.

5

Browser storage and caching

Your browser stores the signed-in session through Firebase and uses local storage for your profile, meal history, hydration, saved recipes, avatar, theme, reminder preferences, and a short-lived copy of your tier and daily allowance. Session storage can help restore the same account’s display during navigation.

These local copies make pages load faster. The server checks permissions and quotas; changing a cached tier does not unlock Pro. Signing out or switching accounts clears MacroMuse’s account caches. Theme preferences may remain. On shared devices, sign out when you finish.

The service worker caches pages and app assets for faster loading and limited offline viewing. It also saves a small set of public Firebase SDK and chart-library files so account pages can open offline. It excludes API responses, authenticated requests, and Firebase authentication and database traffic. Previously loaded account data can be viewed offline after your saved sign-in is restored; cached information may be out of date. AI requests and cloud updates need an internet connection. Browser settings can clear site storage and cached files.

6

Optional reminders

Enabling notifications requires browser permission. We store the push endpoint, subscription keys, your account ID, and delivery state. The reminder service checks recent meal and water activity to choose a message; reminder text may be visible on your device’s lock screen.

Turn reminders off in Settings to remove this device’s subscription, or revoke notification permission in your browser. Delivery depends on your browser, device, connection, and service availability.

7

Free limits, Pro access, and exports

The Free plan allows 3 meal logs and 5 successful AI Chef replies per day, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Saving recipes and PDF progress exports require Pro. The server records usage to enforce these limits; deleting a meal does not restore the day’s allowance.

Pro is currently listed at US$5 or ₹500 as a one-time price for lifetime access. Activation uses a code checked by our server. The activation form does not take a payment, and the website currently has no payment checkout or card collection. Earlier time-limited activations keep the expiry shown in Settings.

Pro PDF reports are created through your browser’s print or save-as-PDF function. You control where the file is saved or shared. Cancelling Pro in Account & data ends Pro access without deleting meals or saved recipes or issuing a refund. Previously saved recipes remain available to view or remove on Free.

8

Retention and deletion

Cloud profiles, meal and progress records, saved recipes, and preferences do not currently have an automatic deletion schedule. Access records, usage counters, and other operational records may remain after you stop using a feature.

Deleting a meal removes it from the visible diary. The server also retains an original meal receipt for safe retries and Undo, and usage records to prevent quota bypass; deleting the visible entry does not remove those records. Removing a saved recipe deletes it from your saved collection.

Clearing local data or uninstalling the app does not delete your Firebase account or cloud records. To request account and associated cloud-data deletion, email macromuseai@gmail.com from your account email where possible. We may need to verify ownership before acting. Mention any feedback sent to Google Forms so it can be included in your request. Providers may retain service logs or backups under their own policies.

9

Your choices and account controls

  • Edit your profile and nutrition targets in Settings.
  • View and remove meals in Meals and remove saved recipes in AI Chef.
  • Use Clear local data in Settings to clear this browser’s cached app data and preferences and turn off this device’s reminders. Your account and cloud records remain.
  • Contact macromuseai@gmail.com to ask about your personal data, request a correction, access, or deletion, including if you cannot access your account. PDF export is a Pro feature; you can still contact us about your data on Free.

10

Security

We use HTTPS, authenticated API requests, database access rules, and server-side checks for account access, quotas, and Pro features. Password authentication is managed by Firebase. Local browser storage is not a secure vault; protect your device and avoid leaving your account open on a shared computer.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. If you suspect unauthorized access or a data issue, contact us using the address below.

11

Children’s privacy

MacroMuse is not intended for children under 13 or the higher minimum age required where they live. Entering an age in a profile is not identity or parental-consent verification. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us to request its removal.

12

Updates and contact

We may update this policy as MacroMuse changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. For privacy questions or requests, contact Vishesh Singh, the creator and maintainer of MacroMuse, at macromuseai@gmail.com.
